World AIDS Day
For those who may have missed it, yesterday was December 1st and World AIDS Day. Annually, this day is used to as a time for people across the globe to unite in order to spread AIDS education awareness, show support for those living with the virus, and to commemorate those who have died. According to the WorldAidsDay.org, there are an estimated 34 million people living with AIDS globally and since 1984, more than 35 million have died of HIV or AIDS. Although major findings and advancement have been made in the fight against AIDS, it is still a pandemic that has been classified as one of the most destructive in history.
World AIDS Day is a great day for awareness but does not start and end with this day alone. The theme for this year’s World AIDS DAY was “The Time to Act is Now” and the push that there is still countless hours of work being done to end AIDS once and for all. If you are interested in contributing in the fight against AIDS, you can go to AIDS.gov to find out how you can help.
