I may be Killed because I turn down a date
I don’t know what’s scarier, Donald Trump supporters or guys who aren’t used to hearing “no” from a woman. In an unusual and unfortunate epidemic, women have been falling victim to heinous murders because delusional men just can’t take rejection.
In the most recent case, Ms. Caroline Nosal was shot in the chest and the head when she was leaving her job last Tuesday in Wisconsin. She was only 24 years old. Her killer, Christopher O’Kroley, was charged with first-degree murder and according to the Huffington Post he mentioned that the murder was “easy to do”. How deranged can you be to get that distraught over rejection?
In another 2016 case, Ms. Janese Talton-Jackson of Pittsburgh was found unresponsive after being shot leaving a club past midnight on January 24th. She was only 29 years old. According to the police reports found on The Root, her murderer was 41 year old Charles McKinney.
Within weeks of each other, both of this crimes bring light to a serious issue for women. Crimes like this happen every year but aren’t really discussed, it’s considered just another crime. But, this is a serious violation of a woman and the right she has to say no to someone who wants to make sexual advances towards her. In no way, shape, or form did these women owe these men an explanation for their decision and they definitely were not required to consent to their advances.
So why are there men like this roaming the earth? There’s absolutely no reason why any man should become so incensed to the point of murder after being rejected. Pick your head up, rejection isn’t the end of the world, move on to the next one! There is a serious mental disconnect for a man to stoop to this level and want to spend the rest of his life in jail simply because he can’t go home with a woman for the night.
Women, protect yourself at all times, let them down easy and be aware of your surroundings no matter where you are! Don’t feed into flirting if it is truly a person you cannot see yourself with, take precaution to prevent this from happening. Nevertheless, walk around with a confident head held high and realize that you still don’t have to say “yes”.
